Cash N Color

Cash N Color, otherwise known simply as "Cash" is a 2003 chestnut tobiano mare with a great pedigree that you can see on the link just above. She's double registered with the Pinto Horse Association of America as well.

Cash combines the lines of well known Paint horses such as APHA Champion Helter Skelter (ROM cutting), and APHA Supreme Champion Lucky Straw with the QH lines of Dee Bar Doc, Miss N Cash and Mr. San Peppy.

This is a friendly mare who came to us as a weanling.  We had spotted her when we took a couple of mares to California to be bred to her sire and were impressed with her looks and with her pedigree, especially the mare's side, often a weak point in a pedigree.  She was only a week or two old at that point and we made arrangements to buy her and have her brought to Nevada in the early fall when her mother was going to be moving to Idaho.  She and her dam traveled to Reno and Cash changed trailers and came the rest of the way herself.  She's taken all kinds of things right in stride and nothing much seems to ruffle her.

Cash is built with a more racy look than most of the other mares here and her foals have plenty of speed.  It will be interesting to see as they mature if they combine the speed and cowiness that we are hoping for.    Her first foal was a bay tobiano filly sired by Ima Streakin Doc and her second was a sorrel colt...sired by Muchacho Pintero.  Unfortunately this foal broke a leg at the age of two months and was humanely destroyed.  Cash's foals are pictured on the right and on the foals pages.

Just after weaning her '11 colt...on a rather windy/dusty day

Cash and her '07 bay tobiano filly sired by Ima Streakin Doc...photo at about 4 hours of age. Another shot of the '07 filly   And here is her '08 colt sired by Muchacho Pintero....photo at about 3 hours old.

In '09 Cash produced a chestnut tobiano colt.  He was a bit knock kneed on both front legs, was sold to friends who ended up moving to Mexico and he's now back here.  He's smart and friendly and starting under saddle.  Below was his very first time saddled... didn't get the least upset....

In '10 Cash produced a solid chestnut filly.  She was sold as a weanling and went to Winnemucca and unfortunately came down with a neurological problem, possibly West Nile, and was put down.

In '11 Cash had a solid bay colt with a tiny, tiny star, sired by Ima Streakin Doc.  Cute baby with lots of leg length and no spots (going by the barn name of "Spotless").

"Spotless", '11 colt by Ima Streakin Doc

Cash is tentatively for sale.  If not sold by spring of '12 she'll be bred to Double Down Delta for a chestnut tobiano foal in the spring of '13 with a 50% chance of being homozygous for tobiano.
