Colored Cowhorse Ranch

The mares here at Colored Cowhorse are a very big part of the program.  Not just because they carry the foals but due to their own contributions in terms of conformation, pedigree and most of all, disposition.  Mares teach their offspring what to trust and what not to trust in the world, how to respond to things, how to behave.  Since a good deal of what these foals raised here will become is so dependent on the kind of mother a foal has the mares are as important to the program as the stallions are.  We have both AQHA and APHA mares although the majority are Paints.  There are two mares that are solids but are Paints by pedigree and should not be confused with the Quarter Horse mare.

The mares here are slightly spoiled.  Most love being handled and are fine with their foals also getting attention.
