Colonels Diamond Chex is a 2002 buckskin tobiano Paint stallion. He stands about 15 hands and 11-1200 pounds. He's kind of rangy and rawboned looking and his color changes a great deal from season to season. He's a very laid back horse and has not yet been bred (although he thinks there is something interesting about those mares!).
His sire was a palomino, foundation bred QH named Colonel Leo Chex (a grandson of both Colonel Freckles and Bueno Chex) and was the NFQHA 2000 SteelDust Award winner, the 2000 NFQHA National Versatility Champion Stallion, the 2000 and 2001 Champion Stallion Stakes Stock Horse in Elko, NV, the 2000 and 2001 NVRCHA $10K Limited Hackamore Champion and the 2001 Fallon Nv Stock Horse Spectacular Snaffle Bit Maturity Non Pro Champion. He was a money earner in Idaho, Utah and the National RCHA, has an NRCHA Certificate of Ability and AQHA points in versatility.
His dam was an unshown black tobiano mare who was sired by a point earning horse who was a grandson of Gay Bar King and Sugar Bars. She was out of a mare sired by Remedy's Reward (by Docs Remedy) and out of the number 1 cutting point Paint mare in the country, Coasters Colleen.
The combination of palomino sire and black tobiano dam means the The Colonel is a walking rainbow for color production. We know, because of the colors of his sire and dam and himself, that he is heterozygous (has one gene for each of these characteristics) for black, for agouti, for tobiano, for cream. Depending largely on the mares he is bred to he can sire everything from solid blacks to cremello or perlino tobianos.
