Colored Cowhorse Ranch

Our goal here is to breed the best of cutting, reining and working cowhorse lines that we can afford and to produce those lines in colorful tobiano patterned Paint horses.  We've looked for a long time for some of our breeding stock and feel that we have found excellent mares to cross with the stallions here for sensible, colorful foals. 

Our stallions were selected for the quality of their bloodlines as well as the manners, attitudes, conformation and of course, color. that they bring to the program.  The mares were likewise chosen for looks, pedigree and color. 

We firmly believe that the best horses come from those bred for a particular job being bred to others with the same kind of background.  We don't try to produce an all-around horse by crossing halter or pleasure lines onto the performance lines that we have.  This is not to say that sometimes those halter or pleasure lines can't produce the kind of all around horse that many are looking for....they certainly can but not as often as a consistant line of performance breeding will do.  We don't have any horses with Impressive bloodlines here not because we don't like him....some of his offspring and further downline horses have been known to be awesome.  But the Impressive lines simply won't sell with cutters or with many reiners and working cowhorse people.  This may or may not be fair but it is the reality of the market and since this is a business we need to look to what customers will buy.  It is our belief that the mostly foundation lines that we have here will produce good looking, good minded horses that will take well to training and can be most anything a buyer wants them to be within any physical limits they have. 

At this time we board mares here for breeding only. 

We occasionally have space and time to do some training and love to work with young animals giving them a good start in understanding what their working life will be. If you have behavior problems or training points that you are stuck on we are more than glad to assist if we can.  If we can't we are glad to refer you to someone who possibly can deal with the problem. 

We do not foal out mares other than our own as there is no veterinarian within easy calling distance should something untoward occur. 

We will do a consult on the best potential crosses for a mare based on pedigree analysis with regard to genetic problems that may not be visible but which are known to exist in particular bloodlines. 

While not a professional photographer we are willing to assist in getting foal photos in particular to assist our clients in selling the foals that result from breedings to our stallions.  We can offer suggestions for grooming and for photos that will look, if not like a glamour shot, at least presentable.
