Sales Horses

Colored Cowhorse Ranch offers the following horses for sale.  A 50% deposit will hold a foal until weaned and payments may be arranged to pay the balance.  The horse does not leave the ranch until paid in full.  No board bill will be charged if the foal is paid off by the time he is weaned.  If an older horse on a purchase contract, board will be charged at $1.50 a day.  Shots, worming, farrier care and any vet bills are the responsibility of the buyer and can be arranged.  Registration paperwork will be completed by the time the foal leaves and  he or she will have a coggins (if required according to age), a health certificate and a brand inspection.  Foals will be halter broke, stand tied, be current on shots and deworming and be handled daily to bring out the best in their dispositions.  Unless a colt is sold as a stud prospect he will be gelded prior to leaving the ranch as well at the sellers expense.

Prices are firm but some barter may be negotiated.

2007 foals for sale:

Buttermilk buckskin QH filly, eligible for foundation and buckskin registries as well.  Hind stockings, front heel on right, star, strip, snip.

Sire:  Docs Producer Leo, AQHA perlino

Dam:  Leo Bar Lilly, AQHA sorrel

This baby was born on 1/21/07 so is now a  2 year old.  Her dam is by an NCHA $ earner and out of the daughter of another.  Her sire is strongly foundation bred with NCHA $ earners scattered all over his pedigree for generations.  This filly is calm, friendly, smart and will make a great horse who should mature out at about 14.3 hands.  She's a pretty buttermilk color with more of a slate/cocoa powder color to mane, tail and lower legs...eye catching.

Priced at $2000.

Sale pending

Bay SPB Paint colt, star.

Sire:  Muchacho Pintero, sorrel tobiano Paint

Dam: Calbar Lena, bay tovero Paint

This colt is bred to work and the only thing missing is some white markings.  All four grandparents are money earners and three of the four are producers of money earners.  He's an awesome gelding prospect for working cowhorse, cutting, reining, ranch horse versatility.  He's friendly, quiet, very smart and should mature at about 14.3.

Priced at $1500

2008 foals for sale:

All 2008 foals were sired by Muchacho Pintero, sorrel tobiano grandson of Doc Quixote and Three Ohs and great grandson of Mora Leo, maternal grandsire of Shorty Lena, and of Les Glo by King Glo.  Solid working pedigree throughout and no lines to Poco Bueno so no risk of HERDA afflicted foals.

Sorrel SPB colt, minimal star

Dam:  Cash N Color, sorrel tobiano Paint

This colt combines speed and cow, top and bottom.  He could very well do working cowhorse, cutting, possibly reining.  He has a lovely coppery glow to his sorrel coloring (from his sire).  He's friendly, curious about everything and quick to learn.

This foal showed up one morning with a broken leg and was humanely destroyed.

Bay SPB colt, star, snip, hind stockings, front heels, one blue eye, big roan belly spot...may qualify for regular papers with APHA.

Dam:  Docs Lady's Smoken (APHA pending, bay SPB)

This colt was big when born, the biggest of the group.  He's curious, smart, friendly and might well make a roper or working cowhorse and is probably too big to be a cutter.  Eye catching with one blue eye and the chrome.

Price...........$1000 until started in ground work.

Bay tobiano colt, blue eyes

Dam:  Smoke N Baby Doc, (APHA pending) bay tovero

This is a great colt with really eyecatching looks.  He is bred top and bottom for generations to be a working horse.  He's friendly, smart, independent and should mature to about 14.3-15 hands.

This colt is now off the market.....he's going to be the personal horse of my new grandson, Jacob, born in Dec. '08.  By the time Jacob is old enough to ride this colt will be well started in harness and saddle.  Should be a good match.

Dam:  Tuf Lady Liberty

This is a great little filly....not that little actually.  She's well balanced, nicely marked, smart and friendly.  She should mature at about 14.3 to 15 hands.  Her dam is for sale (see under adult horses/consignments).

Price..........$1000

Adult horses for sale:

Smoke N Baby Doc (APHA pending), 2004 bay tovero mare with black patch mismark at right side of her head and a blue eye on the right....very striking looking.  Sired by Tuf N Lucky Doc (bay tobiano, son of APHA Ch Helter Skelter, ROM cutting, and out of a Dee Bar Doc daughter).  Dam is Docs Ladys Smoke N (APHA pending) bay breeding stock Paint mare, granddaughter of Smoke N Cotton (5th in lifetime working cowhorse pts at the time of his early death, sire of 4 x world ch Smoke N Blackhawk) and of Docs Gabilan (Doc Bar son, top 10 finalist at Snaffle Bit Futurity, sire of cutting , reining, working cowhorses, world ch trail horse, maternal grandsire of APHA world ch reining mare).  Baby had a gorgeous blue eyed bay tobiano colt sired by Muchacho Pintero (sorrel tobi grandson of Doc Quixote and Three Ohs) and is bred back for an '09 foal.    Is not broke to ride, does halter and lead, ties, seldom has needed her feet worked on, current on shots/worming.  LFG with possible HZ foal.

SOLD!!

Cash N Color, chestnut tobiano mare, in foal at present to Muchacho Pintero and due soon.  Has been started lightly under saddle but not ridden for 3 years....would be glad to restart...had no problems with her at all and very willing attitude.  Sells with foal at side and could sell as three in one package with rebreed to either Muchacho Pintero or to Ima Streakin Doc (foals by either could be HZ tobiano).  Priced at private treaty.

Colonels Diamond Chex, buckskin tobiano stallion, heterozygous for everything so a walking rainbow for potential color production.  Very nice horse but not being used here and my health is forcing a cut back.  Use him for breeding or geld for a nice ranch type gelding.  Sweetheart disposition.  Has been very lightly ridden a couple years ago.....can add more time if desired.   Priced at $3000.

Horses on consignment:

Tuf Lady Liberty (see her info on her page), bay tobiano Paint mare, 4 years old, green broke and being ridden more this fall/early winter.  I leased this mare and she had a lovely filly (see at bottom left of this page).  Her owner has said to sell her.  She's open for '09.  Liberty stands a bit over 15 hands and about 1100 pounds right now.  Bred easily and foaled easily.  Good mom.  She's a bit timid and really needs to be only horse or one of only a couple of horses...she eventually will buddy up but takes some time.  I will also kick in a breeding for '09 to the buyers choice of stallions here .... stud fees range from $350 to $600 and the mare is priced at $1500 so you could save a considerable amount.  If she is sold and stays here long enough for breeding next spring there would be a board bill on her of $75/month to cover feed/farrier/shots/wormer.  If additional riding were desired by the buyer I would be glad to do so at $20/ride and it would be riding at my discretion (weather etc during winter can limit riding opportunities a lot or a little depending on how ugly it gets).
