Over the years it occasionally happens that a horse becomes ill or injured or simply old and dies or is humanely put down. This page has some of those horses. All will be missed. The ones we've lost since moving to our own ranch and that are buried here are getting trees planted on ther burial sites... a way to remember each and to provide shade and shelter to the remaining living horses.
"Frankie" was a blue eyed bay tobiano colt that was being held back from sales in hopes that he'd be a terrific childs gelding for my grandson. Unfortunately I came home from work one morning to find him lying dead next to the fence with his head hugely swollen and what looked like a pair of puncture wounds on his cheek. I can only assume he was struck by a rattlesnake fresh out of the den, hungry and irritable as it was during the first warm days of spring.

Leo Bar Lily, a foundation QH mare, seen above with one of her foals, passed as a result of a colic episode and a twisted intestine. She was a great mother (sometimes a bit "too" great) and her influence in the breeding program will be missed.
In the spring of 2011 Pintero was found with a broken leg in the pasture. This was one of the sweetest stallions I've ever been around and having him put down was heart-wrenching. He'll live on here through a son and a daughter but I really miss the old man and his polite requests to have his butt scratched and his kindness and tolerance of foal foolishness.
