2008 Foals

Here are the 2008 babies.  The sire of all these foals is Muchacho Pintero, sorrel tobiano.  Lots more  info on him on his stallion page.  Each mom has her own page as well so you can get a lot of information about the background of these foals by simply checking the info on sire and dam.  Here's a shot of the sire...informal shot of course...

First foal of the '08 season arrived about 8:30a.m. on Sunday, May 4.   A nicely marked bay tobiano colt with two bright blue eyes.  Barn name is going to be Frankie (after Frank Sinatra of course, Ol' Blue Eyes himself).  Here he is at about 1 hour old.

Not sure just yet where breakfast is but check out that blue eye....there's one on the other side just like it.

Dam is bay tobiano mare with one blue eye.  Foal pedigree can be seen at this link:

And here he is at 2 1/2 months old....

The second foal of the season arrived at 3:15a.m. Sunday, May 11th.  This one is a colt as well, a solid sorrel colt with an itty bitty star....that's all.  And LONG legs.  He's a fancy mixture of speed and cow breeding and with his long legs could be a future roping horse, working cowhorse, or even ranch horse versatility competitor.   Here he is at about 5 hours old...

The only white on him!!  You can check out his pedigree at this link:

The season's third foal, also a colt, arrived at 4:45a on Tuesday,  5/13/08.  He's really bred for working cattle.  Mom was a little protective for the first hour or so but is fine with humans now.  He's curious and friendly already coming to me for scratches and rubs.  Photos taken at a little over an hour old.

Check out a working pedigree below.  This may be the colt I keep to replace his sire when that becomes necessary.

Here he is at the ripe old age of 2 months.

And here's number four.  Born around 3a on Saturday, May 18.  This is a BIG colt, solid bay with hind stockings, a front heel, a "swoosh" shaped star, a big splash white kind of snip and one totally blue eye.  Mom and son doing well.  This one could go to roping or something requiring a larger horse than cutting and working cowhorses usually are.  His full brother last year was also big and solid.  May try a different stallion with the mare next time.

Not sure this name will fit but for the time being that's what he's named.....Boomer will be his barn name.

Here he is at 2 months of age....

Foal number 5 arrived the morning of Saturday, June 7.   This is a big filly as well....nearly as tall as her 1/2 brother who is a month old.  She's a tobiano and is about 80% white...with sorrel.  She's inherited her sire's coppery highlights and is cute.  Mom is a maiden and a bit protective but the filly is already independent and curious.  She was born with her knees a bit tight and the tendons in her hind legs just a little soft/stretchy so looks a little odd here on her first couple days.  She should be fine in a week or less.  Photos were her first nap after her breakfast...tired baby.

You can check out her pedigree on

And here she is at 1 month and 10 days....growing like a weed!!
